I’ve always been the sleepy kind. But my goodness I can’t imagine being sleepier now more than ever! I was told I’d experience fatigue as part of the first trimester (and online information confirms this). But whew, I can’t get out of bed without having to snooze for two hours!

I wonder if I can get anything done at all? Even more so now, I’ll be needing some serious streamlining of tasks. It’s not easy and I’m not sure if I can cope with all the work I still need done in the next few weeks…

Mini-goal: Get to bed as early as possible. Primetime TV is not worth it.

Okay, so we started telling people now. And by “we” I mean “me”. Well, I think Ajay told a couple of his friends, but I’ve gone a bit crazy with all the closest dearest family and friends I could get a hold of. Let’s have a look at the varied responses to our news:

This morning after my visit with Dr Myra, Ajay called me to reply to my news. And to ask “So totoo na talaga?” with a giggle in his voice.
Mama sent an SMS: “Congratulations! Take care and keep in touch.”
Papa also sent an SMS: “MABUHAY… MAY MAG EEXTEND NA NG LAHI”
Kuya Eins said “Congratulations! we are so excited. all the best”
Marla, Lilet and Cleo each sent emails, quite long-ish (and thread is still growing) so I’ll keep it at that for now.
Rina’s eyes became extremely big and she was clapping when I told her. Then now in chat she asked “pwede na ba mag-ingay?”
Amor buzzed me to ask what the fuss was about, coz I SMSed her to get online hehe. Then she said “yey!!! woohoo! baka kaya irritable ka na” and we’re still chatting now in yahoo. (she went off to lunch now but says she’ll be back)
Grace replied with “Congratulations!!! that is wonderful news!! I’m so happy for you and ajay, send him my congrats as well” and we set off with a few minutes of chatter in yahoo.
Ella said “WOW!! im so happy for you and ajay. CONGRATS!!! (party)”
Tin said “wow!!! wow!!! congrats. finally!!!”
Shamin replied with a simple “Wow, congratulations!”
Ali with “OMG!! Congratulations!!! That is fantastic news! I’m so happy for you both!”
Finally Ines sent “Wow!!! What good news for the new year!!! You two are truly blessed! Congrats pen and aj!”

So that’s a lot of wows that I can count (coz there are still a lot in the emails and chats I’ve received), so I’m pretty stoked that everyone I love are also stoked =) I know Ajay is too. And for now, I’ve set up a twitter page for the tiny bub.

I went to see Dr Cowell again today. Her first words were delivered nonchalantly: “You’re here for your panvax shot?”

Then I sheepishly told her, “Well, I tested positive over the weekend…”

From then on, the expression on her face changed, and there I was, the possibly pregnant woman in her office.

She gave me another bottle to fill up, as I did the week previously in her office. Obediently, I went to the lavatory in the nurse’s room (I took 500mls of water a half hour earlier, I knew she was going to double-check), and did my business.

A few minutes later, she said “Yep, that definitely is a positive.”

See, it’s different when you take the test yourself and meticulously read the writings on the box after seeing the two red lines. It said 99% accurate * (with a disclaimer that this figure is from clinical studies). Of course it wouldn’t make you believe it 100%, what with those markings. So when Dr Myra said it was positive, then I believed it.

So tomorrow I’m having an ultrasound taken at the Randwick clinic to date the pregnancy.

===========

Secrets are secrets only when you call it a secret; I’m sure the news will spread eventually. And by spread I mean I’ll start telling people eventually LOL
