We’ve been at this remote planning and execution of the wedding for about a month now.
We are relying a lot on our parents on helping us with the execution. Immediate concerns:
We are hoping to pay and secure the deals with Southwoods and Sto Nino de Cebu, with the help of Mama Zen. Prerequisite to this is to arrange how Ajay’s local atm card can pass hands
We aim to finalise the details about the civil ceremony in August, with the help of Mama Josie. When this is settled, we should get the ball rolling with NSO certifications
We are waiting to book Muzette Ensemble (Alabang) as musicians, with the help of Jade. A detail that needs smoothing is to coordinate with the church, how to synchronise the mass songs with these musicians
The best that has been done so far is:
Ajay has booked Chito Vecina as photographer
Well done, Ajay!

One huge chunk of the wedding preparations was sealed when I was in the Philippines. I was able to talk with Chito Vecina and paid his reservation fee. Chito was very accommodating and I felt I am in good hands when the wedding day comes. He brought with him sample albums of different sizes and showed me a sample AVP that maybe shown onsite.
We talked for nearly an hour covering photography/camera discussions. As I am already adept with terminologies and technicalities of the gears, I had fun talking with the man. He exudes warmth and sincerity with regard to his craft and clients. He started off as a photo journalist (and still does photos for Inquirer) and veered to wedding photography. Pen and me are truly excited to see how the man works and would like to see us through his eyes.

I was with my mom and Pen’s mom and dad yesterday at Sto. Nino de Cebu, Stonecrest and Southwoods Golf and Country Club. We did the preliminary ocular of the places but ended up (well essentially) booking the church and the country club.
Pen already mentioned that the church is supposed to be booked only two months in advance, but since her mom knows everyone in the church, we are booked on the 27th of December. We didn’t even gave money upfront. I’ll try to post some pictures when I have time to upload (dial up sucks!). A little bit of concern is that the church’s exterior is not yet done. We are however assured that by December, everything is in order. My mom was awestruck when we saw the altar. It was so nice. She loved it so much that she insisted that we take our vows there.
Southwoods was surprisingly good! It is amazingly large and can easily fit around 200-300 guests! But sadly, we have to trim down the guest list hopefully down to 150 head count. As much as we would like every acquaintance to come, we cannot accommodate all of you.

As I am going back to the Philippines from Feb 2-10, I have been tasked to do an ocular of our chosen churches and reception places. This is officially the first ‘move’ we are doing for the wedding. Pen’s mom will accompany me to those places. I hope to tag along my mom too.
Meeting Chito Vicena will be tricky when I’m in the Philippines. I may not be able to see him in person but hopefully be able to talk with him on the phone. But we’ll see, if I can manage to squeeze in time one day, the meeting will push through.

Since we started listing possible guests in the wedding, the list is growing exponentially. It somehow stabilized by now but still increasing albeit on a slower pace. We are thinking of scratching MSGCC since their package only accommodates 100 people. Any excess of 100 is counted on a per head basis. It will blow off our budget!
We have another place to look out for and a catering service that we want to get. Problem is trimming the list down to 150 (we currently have 179). The package for the catering is either for 100, 150 or 200 people. 179 guests is a bit odd. We’ll either trim it down or bump it up to 200.

I just have to pay Chito Vecina his 10k reservation fee when I return to the Philippines this first week of February.
His work is great and exudes glow and warmness. Not to mention the candidness and “unstiffiness” we are looking for.

The only thing that I would like to have in my wedding is a good photographer.
Now that Mimi & Karl and redmango are not available anymore, choosing from the rest is pretty much hard.
Apparently, 1 year of advance booking is not enough to avail their services.
It just saddens me not to get them.

MSGCC stands for Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club.
They cover flowers, food, cake, music/light systems, and some other extras.
So what’s left for us to do is to agree and pay 50%.
Thinking caps on.

The Manila Southwoods has yet to send their proposal, but it looks like we have this place down for the 27th. No confirmation yet, but things are looking good.
One remarkable detail is to have Dassy (dont know her married last name) a former classmate from San Agustin, working for the club! Hope she can help us finalise things and to sort of tweak some details as well… Hope hope hope!

Contemplating whether to avail services of string band Muzette Ensemble for church. Their services are quite inexpensive.
