Yeah I know, I haven’t blogged since iBlog3. Funny, that I stopped with an iBlog3 entry when I should have jumpstarted from then on.
I was overwhelmed with work and life issues. Now I am in the verge of working overseas. I wanted to wait until I get hold of my plane ticket before blogging about it. But jie clamored for a new entry.
So here is my official entry about my soon to be new job in a foreign country. Apart from preparing documents for my new job, I’m also taking care of my clearance in my current company. Backing up digital files prove to be one of the harder tasks. Organizing the files and burning them takes a lot of time. Work transition is going on smoothly. Unloading my bin in the office with all the garbage I’ve collected and taking them home is daunting. Believe me when I say I haven’t packed my clothes yet. I don’t even have a bag/luggage to begin with. And I have 3 left to finish that.
Unlike Pen when she left the country, we went a-frenzy in buying luggages/bags/clothes/shoes/etc. for her. I on the other hand am letting nature take its course (whatever course that is!). I thought of just dumping whatever clothes I can in my bag and live the Amazing Race kinda way. I haven’t finished God of War 2 in PS2 and it frustrates me that I will not be able to play it for a long time. Good thing that I have my new PSP and uber cool games that I am playing. Games played in the PSP will be a separate entry. ü
So on Sunday, I will be flying to another country. Leaving families & friends here in the Philippines. A new chapter in life unfolds starting on Monday. Wish me luck!

I remember whining a lot before about how morbid it is to analyse how likely it is for a client to die before paying his dues. The padded idea of how likely a person would lose his job and eventually crash into debt doomsday, instead of dying, is just as ghastly. And so I had it bent in my head that I would try not to be a part of such. Noble as it was, my intentions could be likened more to that of self-righteousness.
Which brings me back to science.
But then, this morning I read this bit in the news:
“…an influenza B virus caused a widespread epidemic in [insert place here], creating an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of [insert incomprehensible drug descriptor here]…”
Alas… such is the morbidity of medical research. So yeah, I thought, morbidity is everywhere. I had never put much thought into it before. But seeing that transgenic mice are offed almost every minute in every day for the sake of us, it is much more brutal than it looks.
But the funny thing is, I don’t feel the same level of discomfort about this compared to the financial morosity I had described.
==========
My mom has been a lot into dog grooming these days, me being away from home and all. Now that the Easter holidays are here I’m getting homesick again. I miss my Chloe.

I’m having an uneventful night. Supposed to be working I can’t seem to get any juices flowing [I'm supposed to be drafting a couple of papers], that I just decided “to hell with it” for now, and just relax for a bit. So I thought some loosened screws can be tightened up by blabbing a bit of nonsense.
Ok so what to blabber about then? Hmmm…
Doing, yet again, one of my usual hodge-podge storytelling, that which comprises the Pur of the SilPur life.

God may have created man before woman,
but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece.

Fabio, our Italian postdoctoral researcher in the lab, was telling us about Women’s Day in Italy on the 8th of March, now just 2 days away this year. “Men of every age have to put up with women’s atrocities, like spilling coffee down trousers. Also, men give mimosa to their girlfriends, moms, wives, etc.” It’s ridiculous to think that this festival is unique to Italy, so I looked it up and indeed, I felt a bit silly not to remember that it is in fact an international thing. [Click here for UN website on International Women's Day] The picture I insert here is from the UN website on the event, calling on the world to “Take action to end impunity for violence against women and girls.” It’s a sad state we are in, considering these statistics on unending violence against the female gender.
