My latest sugar source: starburst jellies.

I was too quick to eat them so the moment I decided to take pictures and lay them all out in a grid, I was short a few to fill a 5 by 5 square: (here you can see the shapes)

Rice Table

July 25th, 2007

We had a lunch out treat last Friday courtesy of team mates who got promoted. We were treated to Indonesian food somewhere in Orchard (a good 20mins cab ride away from our office).

Lunch Out

Every Friday, walang paltos, lunch out kami parating mga noypi.

*si gina yung nakapikit. sinadya daw nya yun para magpa-cute.

As our office is strategically placed in the boondocks, we have to take a bus to the nearest ‘lunch out’ place. Often times we go to Tampines Mall (where I usually go for my grocery) or to Bedok where we can either eat at KFC or Pizza Hut. The choices are rather simple: KFC, Pizza Hut, Pasta Mania or McDo. Nothing too fancy. Just taking time out from the ofc and seeing other sights.

Boy Bawang

June 25th, 2007

Here in Singapore, you get to buy spices by the bulk. Walang tingi-tingi dito. And so when I needed to buy garlics, I ended up buying six garlic heads when I only needed about 4 cloves. Now I have a supply that will last a lifetime for me here.

Tokwa’t Baboy

June 11th, 2007

I’ve been craving for tokwa’t baboy here in Singapore ever since I tasted the bland porridge I sometimes eat during lunch. Pen knows I’m a goto and arroz caldo person. I just love these pinoy foods especially when mixed with tokwa’t baboy.

So when I did my weekly grocery, I added to my list the ingredients for my version of tokwa’t baboy.

Try this for a meal. Place in layers: Crumpets, chicken slice, pineapple slices, cheese slices. Microwave for 1 minute [or until cheese melts]. Serve with cool fizzy drink.

Yum!

Writer’s Bloc

March 20th, 2007

I’m having an uneventful night. Supposed to be working I can’t seem to get any juices flowing [I'm supposed to be drafting a couple of papers], that I just decided “to hell with it” for now, and just relax for a bit. So I thought some loosened screws can be tightened up by blabbing a bit of nonsense.

Ok so what to blabber about then? Hmmm…

Doing, yet again, one of my usual hodge-podge storytelling, that which comprises the Pur of the SilPur life.

Arnott’s Shapes

March 18th, 2007

Ok seriously, I am over junk food.
Then along came Arnott’s Shapes. One of my labmates brought a carton of these goodies to the lab last year and I found them really tasty.

It is supposedly “healthier” than your usual potato crisp (coz it’s Baked, not Fried!), but nevertheless, it’s still manufactured food, isn’t it? I mean, check out the health facts:

500 KiloJoules!! And that’s for one serving. It says 8 servings for a box of 200g, yet I do finish a boxful in an afternoon. (yikes!) And no matter how low the salt is said to be, it is still a good 163mg per serving. You gotta say there isn’t that much fat at 5.6g. But they’re soooo yummy. Have a look at a piece:

It’s not good unless you’ve put it in your mouth of course.

Starbucks Coffee Seminar

March 14th, 2007

Funny I find myself attending all these kinds of gathering. Been to Lipa, BlogParteeh, PPC@6, 1st Phil BlogCon, and others. Kung saan may lakad, sama lang ako.

This time, it’s a mini coffee seminar by starbucks.

I am no coffee connoisseur but I must admit that I am drinking more coffee nowadays than before. A couple of months back I just drank coffee from the Nestle vendo machine every morning, now we brew our own coffee. Last time Donato gave me kapeng barako straight from Batangas and the office coffee-mates were more than satisfied.

Cordial

March 13th, 2007

Here I am talking about “cordial” again. Sa Pinas eto yung mga juice concentrates like Sunquick. I tried several brands already, and this is the first time I bought the less-calorie kind from WeightWatchers:
