Rain checks

penny July 22nd, 2008

I have several stuff to blog about, but didn’t get to!! Two weeks ago I was in Newcastle, and last week was World Youth Day. Last week I got my iPhone (finally), which allows me to update my Facebook status and Twitter more often. This week I’m swamped with work in uni, and Ajay is arriving this coming weekend. So perhaps.. I should just post now with a rain check for all these things I want to blog about (but didn’t get to). So for now, TTYL!

Janep is back!

AJ Jorge June 4th, 2008

After 2 days of downtime, I finally migrated Janep to it’s new home. Yey!

From my previous trusted webhost from the Philippines, I transferred the site to John’s (panelo.com) dedicated server. I also transferred my domain host to a new provider and now have total control in our domain name.
New Home

Hopefully, we will be in good hands with the new home. :D

Salamat John sa pag-host sa amin, wag mo ibebenta ang domain mo kay VJ Belinda. Hehe

Happy 5th Bday WordPress!

AJ Jorge May 27th, 2008

WordPressMay 27, 2003 when the first fork of WordPress was formed from the b2/cafelog blogging sofware.

It’s been a sweet ride WordPress! Thank you for the wonderful 5 years and looking for many years to come!

There’s an official party organized by WordPress god Matt in the US and there’s even one in Sydney!

Month End

AJ Jorge March 28th, 2008

All the while that we (Pen and me) are not blogging this past few weeks is because we are enjoying each other’s company here in Singapore. There, that’s our reason for online absence. Nothing beats IRL quality time. Well now since Pen is in the Philippines for a short vacation (not really a vacation), I have a short window of time to compose a new entry probably to close the month of March.

I got a mass email from the Pinoy WordPress community administrator reminding me to make the link love for the members. The Chuckie Dreyfuss started this community and is gaining momentum since it was first started. This has been an ongoing effort to promote Pinoy bloggers using WordPress platform – either the freely hosted one or the own-install version. Well, I finally did it. I copied and pasted the links to make the new page Pinoy WordPress Link Love. Thanks for all the incoming links from the members and I hope I can do my share to juice up your blog page ranks.

Pen will be back from the Philippines stopping a day here in Singapore before finally heading back to Sydney. We are not yet quite sure when we’ll meet again as we are trying very hard to minimize expenses of travelling. If there will be a cheap flight sometime this year, either I fly to Sydney or she goes back here in Singapore. We still don’t know yet.

There goes my short window of time. Going back to face the real world now.

A student’s log of his UP days

penny March 8th, 2008

While bored to my wits, I went into yet another google frenzy and found this site. I found it so funny I just had to share it. It would probably be of interest to some UP graduates, especially those from Computer Science (CS).

It is a little website made by some sad computer science student in UP (he’s probably somewhere writing code to save the world now). In the website, the author (Alec, from what I gather in his pages) outlines his experiences in each of his academic courses in bullets. He documented what he learned (if any) from the course, his professor/teacher and what he/she was like, and other things he experienced in his classes. At one point he says in one CS subject “walang lab, pero ewan ko kung bakit natuto akong mag-program dito”.

Math teachers he mentions are Dr Pizana, Dr Roque, Dr Alejandro (now Kazanidis), Prof Adorio, Cherry Ramos and Ajay Jorge =)

Chuckie and me

AJ Jorge September 30th, 2007

I was quite surprised that I got a ‘friend’ invite from the Chuckie Dreyfus in my Facebook account. Kinda cool that somebody famous is befriending me (well at least in Facebook).

Chuckie and me

We may not know each other personally but we sure have one thing in common – WordPress! He’s been busy spearheading the Pinoy WordPress community among other things. I think this is a really great cause of establishing the Pinoy WordPress users in the Philippines and all over the interwebs. Join the community in the temporary message board that he put up.

I’d say his celebrity status contributed to the rapid growth of the community. It would not gain this much popularity if it had been organized by some random WordPress advocate. Hats off to you Chuckie! It would greatly speed up your efforts if keep in touch with somebody named Yuga – the blogging god of the Philippines.

Irrashaimase!

Janep Turns Two

AJ Jorge June 19th, 2007

New look for janep this year.

Last year, I pegged janep’s anniversary to be on June 20th which coincides with our anniversary and Cia’s bday. It has been a very fruitful year both for me and Pen.

As you all know, Pen is currently in Sydney while I am here in Singapore. Yeah, it’s the dreaded long distance relationship, but we don’t really give a shit. We are having fun doing our own thing by ourselves. We could be happier though if we are together but we are on the last stretch of our single blessedness, might as well savor the moment. Carpe Diem!

Now, as for the new look, I do hope you notice the banner image (or at least it shows on your browser). It would not have been possible without the generosity of Mr. Jonas Diego of The Blurb!. I (formally) met Jonas in iBlog3 when I took all my courage to approach him. He’s a comics artist (and sometimes a comic too!) and I’m a comics fan. The meeting was a match made in heaven – well at least for me. I’m a big fan of webcomics apart from the usual singe comics sold at your comics shops. Jonas already has 6 webcomics published in the web. Grab/read/subscribe your copy over at his archive. Jonas, I thank you once again. :)

I’m not yet done with the details of the new look. There’s nothing you can do but bear with the inconvenience. Honestly, I haven’t fully tested the template so there might be some broken links here and there. I’m just a comment/email away, so please do tell me any thing you may have notice not working properly.

Thanks for continuously reading the blog. We hope you join us with our journey.

So janep is worth something afterall…

AJ Jorge June 10th, 2007

My blog is worth $37,259.64.
How much is your blog worth?

Hmmm… now if I could really monetize this blog.

Thanks to all readers. Kahit na ayaw nyong mag-iwan ng comment, salamat pa rin sa patuloy na pagbisita.
