Yups, ika nga sa nakalagay sa header dito sa janep, ikakasal na kami!
Most of you know already anyway, since we’ve sent out ‘save the date’ e-cards as early as February this year. I thought I’d write about it now, ‘coz I don’t think I have.
We’re working on the details still, but hopefully we can send out our formal invites to our friends in the next couple of months. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway) it’s tricky to work out details in wedding planning when you’re in our situation. Ajay and I talk to our folks on the phone and chat online as often as we can, to plan and execute wedding stuff. It’s reeeeeeally hard. But we’re happy that it’s going all right.

After 2 days of downtime, I finally migrated Janep to it’s new home. Yey!
From my previous trusted webhost from the Philippines, I transferred the site to John’s (panelo.com) dedicated server. I also transferred my domain host to a new provider and now have total control in our domain name.

Hopefully, we will be in good hands with the new home.
Salamat John sa pag-host sa amin, wag mo ibebenta ang domain mo kay VJ Belinda. Hehe

Last year was the Earth hour initiative here in Sydney. I was able to turn off my energy consumption at that time. I’ll try to inculcate the same in Manila this time.
There is a video in the homepage for Earth Hour 2008: http://www.smh.com.au/earthhour/2008/
Please watch, disseminate and participate.

Tonight I will turn off electricity for a full hour from 7.30-8.30 p.m. (5.30-6.30 MNL) to support Earth Hour. It would be interesting to see this campaign spread globally.

Philippine Blogosphere is very much active this 2007. We have the Philippine Blog Awards on March 31 to be held on Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza Building (yes, the same place where I work). We will also have the 3rd iBlog Convention on April 13 & 14 to be held on UP School of Economics Auditorium.

The best thing in this iBlog3 is that it is still free! No expense to worry about and the venue is too good to be true. If it will be held in some other place, I have to think twice before going.
There will be a lot of talks and sessions for the two day event. See the details here and if you want to come with me, register here. I’m the 63rd registrant.

From the same people who brought BlogParteeh!, they have a new activity up on their sleeves. Presenting the Philippine Blog Awards 2007.
The Philippine Blog Awards aims to recognize notable Filipino-owned blogs in their respective niches — a venue to showcase notable blogs with quality content that engages readers from around the globe.
You guys could still nominate your favorite blog (or even your own!). Head over to the nomination page and just fill up the form and wait for confirmation. Nominations ends today (Feb 28) and awarding will be on Mar 31 with no final venue yet. So sorry for the late announcement, I was pretty much swamped with work the last few weeks and didn’t bother to post an entry here. Anyhow, I hope I can still contribute my fair share in the country’s blogosphere by this entry and a small ad in the right.
And before I forget, the BlogParteeh! where I won the iPod was featured in Manila Bulletin last Feb5. I wonder who still has a copy of that newspaper? I was among the faces printed in that newspaper. I just learned this yesterday from Noemi Lardizabal-Dado and thanks to her scan, I have a digital file of that page. It will be cool though if I can have a copy of that newspaper.
=======
Update:
Nominations are extended until Mar 4. This will be the deadliest deadline.

UNSW’s Dr Tina Castillo has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Dr Maritina (Tina) T. Castillo joined the University of New South Wales from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in July 2002. Prior to her joining UNSW, she held positions at UP-Diliman, the Actuarial Society of the Philippines, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and a number of non-government agencies in the Philippines.
At UNSW, Tina taught in the major undergraduate and postgraduate actuarial courses and was instrumental in organising activities including industry and professional events. She pursued her research in optimal control in insurance and presented her research at a number of major conferences while at UNSW. Tina was well regarded by the actuarial profession for her interest in actuarial education and student learning, as well as in the advancement of actuarial science through basic and applied research in problems related to insurance.
“Tina will be sadly missed by colleagues and students at UNSW,” said Professor Alec Cameron, Dean of the Faculty of Business. “I’m sure all staff will join me in sending our deepest condolences to her family at this very sad time.”
Tina is survived by her husband Roel, daughter Chakri and three sons: Miguel, Paulo and Noah.
==============================================
I remember Ma’am Tina well as one of the most amiable persons I ever knew in UP Math. She was always softspoken, thus it was never too daunting to speak with her about almost anything, though she was in her own right a very daunting achiever. I remember her most for being the speaker in our graduation. It was a delight listening to her speech, and seeing her entire nuclear family on stage with her to receive her award (for top marks).
It’s a pity I never saw her since I arrived here in Sydney. I heard word that she was already very ill at that point. I found out she had been on sick leave from the university for a long while already. It was too awkward to intrude in family affairs in an unimaginably difficult time, especially since I did not know any of her family personally, just her. I sent a message to her daughter offering my well wishes at one time.
Prayers and condolences to her family. This is very sad indeed. I hope this news gets to her students too: which of you guys were? Rheena, Ella, Gary, Sheryll, Melods (Glenn and Rex i think? or were they with Ma’am Sachi?) and the others… Sorry I didn’t post about it earlier.

Kamikazee was playing for the Greenery during their usual Wednesday University Break. Havoc! I was waiting for offices to resume by 1.30 pm and there they were, screaming their hats off. (literally, some were wearing kikay hats, I swear)
Black and white now confirms I’ve been de-greenized.
