“First” GP visit

penny February 1st, 2010

I went to see Dr Cowell again today. Her first words were delivered nonchalantly: “You’re here for your panvax shot?”

Then I sheepishly told her, “Well, I tested positive over the weekend…”

From then on, the expression on her face changed, and there I was, the possibly pregnant woman in her office.

She gave me another bottle to fill up, as I did the week previously in her office. Obediently, I went to the lavatory in the nurse’s room (I took 500mls of water a half hour earlier, I knew she was going to double-check), and did my business.

A few minutes later, she said “Yep, that definitely is a positive.”

See, it’s different when you take the test yourself and meticulously read the writings on the box after seeing the two red lines. It said 99% accurate * (with a disclaimer that this figure is from clinical studies). Of course it wouldn’t make you believe it 100%, what with those markings. So when Dr Myra said it was positive, then I believed it.

So tomorrow I’m having an ultrasound taken at the Randwick clinic to date the pregnancy.

Secrets are secrets only when you call it a secret; I’m sure the news will spread eventually. And by spread I mean I’ll start telling people eventually LOL

And sometimes you want the boxes to define “positive” as pregnant and “negative” as not. What if you knew otherwise? ’cause the boxes here sometimes doesn’t say.

    congrats soon-to-be mommy pen!
