Trip to Little India

September 29th, 2008

Pen and I are sort of neglecting janep. With all the other social websites that we are engaged in, it’s kinda hard to update the site.
This Little India trip I had together with the Pinoy Photographers here was taken 2 weeks ago.
It’s been shared everywhere but not here. I just forgot to post it here.

New HDD

September 24th, 2008

Bought a new hard disk last night. It’s the portable kind unlike the one I have at home which needs to be powered on from a socket. This one is the plug-and-play kind. 320gb ~139SGD. Just in time for the new season of TV shows. Time to move the old medias file to the new one to free some space.

Oh, I also started playing Star Wars The Force Unleashed in my PSP. It’s a Prince of Persia/God of War kind of game. Button smashing and killer combos. Graphics is teh suck though. TRS dudes said graphics is awesome in xbox360 and PS3… seems like they didn’t do a good job porting in PSP.

Flu Season

September 19th, 2008

What’s up with the weather?!

Pen and I are both battling the flu and colds (albeit separately). I started feeling drowsy yesterday while Pen started the day before. We are both taking medications and somehow it is working for both of us.

We also have to remember to drown the flu with lots of water. More water intake, the better it is (more visits to the loo too).

Hopefully this virus will walk away in time for our busy weekend. I will be joining a street shoot tomorrow at Little India while Pen will be running the Sydney Bridge Run.

Netbook race.

September 17th, 2008

What’s a netbook? Put simply, it’s one of those micro-notebooks that weigh less than 2 kilos (or even <1 kg) that have been coming out recently. This ongoing race to being the best netbook is really dizzying. I've had my eye on the ASUS eeePC for the longest time since the early models (e.g. 701) came out. It wasn't too appealing at first, but when I lifted it in the shop first time I saw it, I was so surprised at how light it was. Lugging around > 2kg suddenly felt really tiring. The most recent member of the eee family is the 1000H. At 1.45kg, it’s really handy to carry, and with 8hrs of battery life, that is NO fail at ALL! Still a bit pricey for me taste at almost A$700, with 2GB RAM and 80GB HDD.

Danger looms when you keep your eye too close to a specific brand. There are a lot of other netbooks by Dell (E), MSI (Wind), etc… I haven’t had the time to look at everything.

The MacBook Air is very sexy, but it fails with its price. At almost A$4000 it is an EPIC fail. Unless I choose to give up food for the next year.

Anyhow, just throwing these thoughts to the universe. I still haven’t found an excuse to get a netbook. My laptop works fine, all 2.38 kilos of it. Sure, I had been whinging about it coming with Vista, and after a year I’ve grown used to it. I don’t see the need to have to reformat anything at the moment yet… (though I came reaaaally close, and Ajay even went as far as to send me an installer for XP) coz it seems to be working fine. Plus all my precious work for my thesis are currently on track. Don’t fix it if it ain’t broken right? So at the moment, the laptop suits me fine.

Wouldn’t mind a netbook though, if it’s super cheap, or free.

Fundraising

September 15th, 2008

Help us raise fund for Pen.

She will be running the Sydney Bridge Run. Donations are most welcome.

I am dusting off the joggers and pounding the pavement in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival. At the same time I am aiming to raise money for charity and I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!

Plurking

September 12th, 2008

Hi all.

After the Twitter frenzy, Pen and I are now fans of Plurk! After Twitter pulled the plug on sending twitter updates via SMS, we felt no more connection with twitter. Then Pen found out this Plurk thingie. It’s a timeline twitter-like web application.

It also encourages conversation unlike one way announcement in Twitter.

Follow us on our Plurk profiles!

Bamboo @ Singapore

September 3rd, 2008

I finally managed to upload pictures taken from the Bamboo Concert.

As expected, Bamboo was a high energy performer. He easily got the crowd to sing and jump with him.
Bamboo

They were on stage for about an hour and sang the songs below:
Playlist
plus 2 encores: the second to the last song escapes me at the moment but the last one was “Masaya”.

They opened up with “Probinsyana” – which, if I’m not mistaken, is their latest hit. Surprisingly, they sang 5 Rivermaya songs: Elesi, Ulan, Kisapmata, 214 and Awit ng Kabataan. Not that I don’t like the songs, but I think they should have stuck with their own songs. No complains though. This is the first time I’ve watched Bamboo live and he can sing whichever song he like and I’ll still listen. Hearing those ‘old’ songs bring heart warming feelings that definitely put a smile on my face.

I was in front of Ira Cruz the whole time while Bamboo was hovering in the center stage.
