Social Site Demographics

February 28th, 2008

Social

Quite interesting to see the social networking sites we use according to our demographics. Friendster still tops the SouthEast Asia market which includes the Philippines. Multiply doesn’t show in the list though I thought it is gaining momentum due to the ease of picture sharing and music sharing. MySpace still tops the list closely followed by FaceBook.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

February 27th, 2008

With Pen’s recommendation, I finally gave in and watched this movie over the weekend.

Kakaibang movie. May pagka-weirdo pero surprisingly, i liked it. Stars Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Tom Wilkinson, Elijah Wood and Kirsten Dunst. Love story gone wrong then gone right and gone wrong again. Astig pagkakagawa. Galing ng editing. One of those movies na hindi chronological ang order. May flashback, may dreams, may current time. Sa una nakakalito ang timeline pero magegets mo rin yung tunay na current time pagnagtagal. Maganda sya kahit na parang B-movie ang pagkakagawa. It has won the Golden Globe awards for Best Comedy or Musical, Best Actor for musical or comedy, Best Actress for musical or comedy (Kate Winslet rocks!) and Best Screenplay.

Favours/souvenirs

I hope I can find something like this when I go shopping in divisoria:

OR
bell

They would look great with old rose-colored ribbons/lace! Plus they double as place-card holders too!

Ring designs

February 25th, 2008

Here’s the simplest wedding band I can find:
ring

I think we can get away with the simplest ring design, and maybe differing colors. I think Ajay would prefer a silvery (white gold = gold + nickel) color, while I do prefer a rose gold (gold + copper) color.

Status report: February 2008

February 21st, 2008

We’ve been at this remote planning and execution of the wedding for about a month now.

We are relying a lot on our parents on helping us with the execution. Immediate concerns:

  • We are hoping to pay and secure the deals with Southwoods and Sto Nino de Cebu, with the help of Mama Zen. Prerequisite to this is to arrange how Ajay’s local atm card can pass hands
  • We aim to finalise the details about the civil ceremony in August, with the help of Mama Josie. When this is settled, we should get the ball rolling with NSO certifications
  • We are waiting to book Muzette Ensemble (Alabang) as musicians, with the help of Jade. A detail that needs smoothing is to coordinate with the church, how to synchronise the mass songs with these musicians
  • The best that has been done so far is:

  • Ajay has booked Chito Vecina as photographer
  • Well done, Ajay!

    Out of Bounds

    Out of bounds

Did a quick image editing in Photoshop. Trying out the out-of-bounds approach.

Sometimes I really like to invest time and effort in doing image editing and manipulation. Time is not on my side on this one. I can only open up my PS whenever I have spare time. Not to mention that my laptop’s resolution is low and not calibrated properly. I guess I have to wait if I can buy a MacBook in the near future.

    Coelho pirates his own books

    February 13th, 2008

    Pen will surely love this.

CoelhoApparently, master story teller Paolo Coelho pirates his own books! He put up a dedicated blog site to collect all links of direct download and torrent links of his books in all languages. Aptly called PirateCoelho, he insists of putting his books online so that people can download them. Browsing the PirateCoelho site makes it easier if you are looking for his books to download. It’s all there. Problem is if the direct links still work. Torrents will be alive as long as there is a seeder out there. Even audiobooks are there! Wow!

    Paolo was quoted:

“I found a pirated Russian translation of “The Alchemist”, and we were selling 1000 copies a year in Russia, that’s not very impressive, so I said OK, let’s put the pirate edition online for people to download. It sold 10,000 copies, and everybody was puzzled, and the next year we went over 100,000. It was, believe it or not, the free-for-download book. People downloaded it, started reading it, liked it, and bought it”

    How awesome is that?!

More about Paolo pirating himself can be read here and here.

    UP Shoot with Friends

    February 12th, 2008

    AJ and friends

Props to my good ol’ buddies from college for taking time to meet with us (me and my sisters) for a practice shoot inside the UP Diliman Campus. Even though Ray is already a pro in terms of photography, he made time to shoot with us in UP. I started off clicking my camera within the Film Center Area. I had 2 cameras with me that day so I lent Rex the 350D with the tele lens while I use the 400D with 50mm lens. Ray enjoyed his new second hand BGE3 I brought from Singapore.

    Chito Vecina is it!

    February 11th, 2008

One huge chunk of the wedding preparations was sealed when I was in the Philippines. I was able to talk with Chito Vecina and paid his reservation fee. Chito was very accommodating and I felt I am in good hands when the wedding day comes. He brought with him sample albums of different sizes and showed me a sample AVP that maybe shown onsite.

We talked for nearly an hour covering photography/camera discussions. As I am already adept with terminologies and technicalities of the gears, I had fun talking with the man. He exudes warmth and sincerity with regard to his craft and clients. He started off as a photo journalist (and still does photos for Inquirer) and veered to wedding photography. Pen and me are truly excited to see how the man works and would like to see us through his eyes.
