I’ll be back here in Singapore on January 6, 2008.
Gonna spend the holidays on Sydney with Pen! Sydney, here I come!

Before I hop to Sydney tomorrow, let me share this photos taken from Underwater World in Sentosa and Night Safari
There was this blue screen in Underwater World. Taking your picture and doing wacky poses is free but you have to buy the print if you want something to take home with you. We bought both poses we did.

Night Safari. This one is rather different. There was a guy who suddenly stopped us in our way and pointed us to the wall so he could take our picture. Then he waved us away to get the next people’s pictures. Parang assembly line. Hehe

Over the past week I was in Canberra for a workshop in the Australian National University. I sneaked out for a few hours to see the inside of the Australian War Memorial, probably the only place I failed to visit last year when I went to visit Joy in September for Floriade.
I’m still a bit wiped out so I might just procastinate the posting and picture uploading for later… Putting up this post as a reminder to myself.

I’ve been told that Christmas here in Singapore is one of those holidays that people look forward to. In this country where literally race/nationality and religion is mixed anywhere, celebrating a feast for certain group (Easter, Christmas, Hari Raya, Ramadan, Chinese New Year, etc) is a challenge. Take for instance, this Christmas. Not all people are celebrating it. So there are only few decors around. One place where Christmas is truly in the air is the Orchard Rd stretch. But I haven’t been there for some time now, so I still don’t feel that feeling of Christmas.

Malls are also already decorated with ornaments. Again, unlike in the Philippines, Christmas decorations will be put up as soon as the ber months start, it seems that it was only last week of November when malls were decorated. I miss the cheerfulness of Pinoys during this holiday season. In here, Singaporeans, Chinese, Malays, Indians, etc are still grumpy and goes on with their usual everyday i-dont-care-with-other-races attitude.

All is not lost though. We will be having a Christmas Party with our team in a function room of somebody’s condominium. We’ll have the usual potluck and bring your native dish style. Attendance will be represented by Filipinos, Indonesians, Singaporeans, Indians and a Norwegian. I’ll also be attending another Christmas Party with the shooters and their families the next day.
Hopefully the Christmas Spirit will dawn upon me by then.
Thoughts aside
The stylish designs and styles of beds are available in the marketplace in the reasonable rates. You may purchase different gorgeous carpets, designed by the different manufacturers. The governmental housing schemes are very beneficial for homeless individuals of the country. The laminate flooring is very attractive with bright colors, providing the protective measures against any kind of damages.

This is a long overdue entry.
There was the Singapore Bike Fest ’07 and there is the Tampines Bike Fest. LOL
Parked

Most uncles (that’s the manong equivalent in the Philippines) ride the bike when doing their grocery. Most bikes have those baskets in front of the handle rails. Blue collar workers would also ride the bike from their home to the MRT station, leave their bikes there and ride the MRT. Sometimes people throw trash in the baskets which I find funny given that Singapore is litter free but litter bugs would throw instead in the baskets not on the floor.

I just realized one good thing with living far away from friends is that you are not compelled to buy Christmas gifts for them.
Eversince college, me and Pen would trek to Greenhills, SM North or SM Megamall to buy gifts for loved ones and close friends. Pen would have a small notebook full of names with gifts for each. It would take us weeks to complete this task. From listing the lucky names, matching the gifts for them, braving the traffic and the crowd, buying the gifts and down to wrapping and giving them the gifts.
None of that will happen this year. Even with my new found friends here in Singapore, I’ll pass. We’d just celebrate Christmas quietly in Sydney. The only thing that occupies Pen’s list is the menu we’ll be having on Noche Buena.

It’s almost sunup and I’m still awake. Wide awake. What is it in scotch that conked me out for 2 hours and keeping me awake now?
That was my first straight up scotch. Or as I heard about it before from Rachel’s father, ‘scotch neat’. I’ve smelled it before, but as many of my friends know, I’ve never drank more than maybe half a bottle of beer pre-Australia. So that whiff of scotch or whiskey can really make me nauseous easily.
But I didn’t realise how much I’d enjoy sipping through my first one.
Scotch neat. Pretty neat.

First time ko mag-papasko na mainit ang panahon. Actually bago yun, marami palang first time ngayong pasko.
First time
