Maja Blanca Recipe
AJ Jorge November 10th, 2007
For those of you asking how I did my Maja Blanca, here it is.

When I cooked up another set of maja, I took time to take photos while cooking. Hirap pala ng ganun. hehe
Okay so, ingredients. These ingredients are Singapore brand. Find your own brand in wherever country you’re in.
We’ll need the following:
Coconut Milk or gata in Filipino

Cornstarch or cornflour in Singapore

Cream Style Sweet Corn

Condensed Milk

The four above are the main ingredients. If you have them, you’ll have maja in no time.
How to:
1. Dissolve 1 cup of cornstarch into 1 cup of water. If you want juicy maja, add more water (half cup will do it). I dissolve my cornstarch into the same pot I will be using. Para less cleaning after wards.
2. Pour the gata. I pour the whole content of that gata box. I think it’s about a cup of gata too. Thus, the measurements are 1 is to 1 is to 1.
3. Pour the cream style sweeet corn.
4. Don’t put the condense milk yet.
5. Simmer in very low heat and keep on stirring. Maninikit kasi pag di nyo hinalo.

Here is what it looks like prior to heating.
6. If the mix is getting stickier, pour in the milk. Depends how sweet you want it to be. I usually pour half of the can’s milk.

When the mix is somewhat like the above, you can now pour in the condensed milk.
7. Continue stirring over low heat. Stir and stir until the milk is incorporated with the whole mix.
8. Taste and see if it’s okay. Add water if too much sticky (malamang sobra ang apoy), add milk if you want sweeter, etc…
9. Pour into buttered container. I butter my container para di dumikit sa gilid-gilid yung mix. Pag may butter, madulas sya at madaling hiwain pag kainan na.

Let if cool for some time then put inside the fridge.
Serve cold.
Tell me how did it go with your version.
