It’s a date: Sentosa Part 1
AJ Jorge August 26th, 2007
I have to divide the Sentosa date to a 3-part series as we have tons of photos from the whole day affair. Sentosa is a small isolated island from the mainland Singapore itself. It is a spot for the tourists in Singapore. Sentosa has 3 man-made beaches, various tourist attractions and a lot of sight-seeing views.

On to Sentosa!
People can reach Sentosa Island in various ways. They have a dedicated bus line from the mainland to the island, you can take cabs, you can ride the express MRT, you can even walk the bridge to get there but Pen & I took the best way (and most expensive of all choices) to get there….
*about 40 pictures here, wait for all of them to load. it may take some time…*

Cable Car!

Yep. We rode that thing up in the air. Exciting!!

And off we go…

The adrenalin rush was fun! The ride was slow unlike a roller coaster ride. We get to see from a bird’s eye view the city skyline we left behind and the island that we are going to.

Me and Pen with the Singapore dock in the background.

A capsule passing in the other lane. Pen shouted “Dali, picture na! Ayan na!” haha.

The two geeks cannot contain their excitement and hidden fright.

We took the capsule with transparent base. It was no different from the one with solid base. We should have taken the one with solid base as it was cheaper. You will just see the ocean beneath your feet and that’s it. Oh well.

Singapore’s very own merlion from a distance. The mythical merlion has a lion’s head and a mermaid’s feet. That’s why it’s called a merlion. Duh!

Powerful zoom lens on work. You can see people on top of the merlion’s head. It’s one of the attractions of the island. Pay something like S$10 to be a louse of the merlion.

Cable Car’s stop is dead ahead. It was a 9-10mins ride from the Harbourfront tower to the island’s tower.

First stop, Information counter. Funny story here… we stopped at the information counter the moment we stepped onto Sentosa but we forgot to take a map! We just followed the queue and ask around to go to places. We were able to secure a map around dinner time already.

As we have no real itinerary on where to go, we just decided to go to the Underwater world first because it is the nearest attraction we would like to see. We tried to walk from the Visitor’s entrance to the Underwater World. Noticing that nobody else was walking and not to mention the sun is frying us, we headed back to the visitor’s entrance and rode the bus. Good thing we went back as the walk would be around 30mins!

Welcome to Underwater World
Brace yourselves for lots of fish pictures here. We took lots of pictures and I think this set is the best one and those pictures we would like you to see….

Fishes in the pond. People are allowed to feed the fishes and dip their hands into the pond.

Worm Fish! Well, that’s what I call them. They are like worms with a third of their body dug in the sand.

Close up picture. It’s an elongated Nemo! Haha

Seahorse! So that’s how they look like when they are not curled.

Another variety of the worm fishes.

Now this fish is weird. I call you the monster fish!

Awwww. Cute. Pen’s favorite color = Purple!

I call you the Leaf Fish! This fish is awesome. When you first take a look at it’s aquarium, it is camouflaged in it’s surrounding leaves. Galing!

They have a big fish tank with lots of colorful fishes swimming about.

Pen and I likened it to when we went snorkeling in Anilao minus getting wet and all.

The corals are wonderful and the ecosystem is just amazing.

From a different aquarium, we spotted the feeding time of big and humongous fishes. The fishes here are really big! One is almost as big as the man feeding it.

We are now enroute to the underwater world itself. But before that we can view them from atop. The obligatory pictures first. Hehe

My turn!

The underwater world itself. The U-shaped underwater path has a conveyor belt in half of the walkway. So you could just stand there and take the tour automatically.

Sharks above us!

Nice effect because we are standing in the conveyor belt here. The background blurred itself.

Shark! Shark! Ang dami-daming sharks dito! Their teeth are literally like jagged saw!

The whole underwater world looks a little something like this. It’s a domeshaped area with the sharks and fishes swim on top you.

Pen and AJ goofying around.

Wala nang ma-picturan na fish, kami na lang. Hehe

Me and my canon.
After that tour, there were few more aquariums we have yet to see. And one aquarium with lots of kiddies infront it…

Nemo!

Nemo in his anememomone.
Not too far from Nemo we saw….

Dory and Bubbles! You wouldn’t believe this but I literally shoved off some kids to get these Nemo shots. What?! They were hogging the aquarium! What about me?! LOL.

We also had our pictures taken for our souvenir. There were two different shots and we bought them both. Sayang eh. Wala kaming picture na matino na magkasama kami.

Now we have to have our rest and break time outside the Underwater World. We so far finished the first stop and we need to refresh our energies. Pen tasting the pastry we brought.

Pen bought 2 cans of coke to fight off the sweltering heat.
After Underwater World, we headed to the other end of the island for the Dolphin Show.
That will be a separate entry as there are also lots of pictures from that set. It wouldn’t be wise to put them together as it will take time to load all the pictures in one go.
See you on the next entry!
