Bamboo We Stand Alone Together
AJ Jorge April 9th, 2007
I bought the new Bamboo album We Stand Alone Together last Black Saturday (yups, I was malling during that time haha). Shari already did a take on their released single Tatsulok which is a remake of Buklod’s version (check out her site for it is full of counter-analysis of the song). I already have Bamboo’s first two albums and buying the third one is a no-brainer. The album is a rendition of cult-classic songs from different music eras/generations. I especially like their version of Pearl Jam‘s Alive.
The album consists of 2 cds for a bargain price of 299 pesos. I already copied the songs in my iPod and is now my favorite album in my current roster. I could have easily downloaded an mp3 copy somewhere in the web but I support OPM artists. Buy an original copy and you won’t regret it.
Tracks included in the album are (and as popularized by):
1. Probinsyana – Anak Bayan
2. Feelin’ Alright – Joe Cocker
3. So Far Away – Carole King
4. Alive – Pearl Jam
5. 50 Ways to Leave your Lover – Paul Simon
6. Prayer for the Dying – Seal
7. Umagang Kay Ganda – Pops Fernandez (winner of Metro Manila Pop Music Festival winner in 1979)
8. Tatsulok – Buklod

The band is somewhat receiving a flak for their 3rd album because it doesn’t contain any original material. The band just shrugged it off and says it is part of their journey.
Mabuhay kayo Bamboo. Ipagpatuloy nyo ang paggawa ng magandang musikang Pinoy.

hi! i’m quite surprised to see bamboo doing a version of carole king’s song. i’m curious about bamboo’s version on this one.
found your link through shari’s site, by the way.
thanks for dropping by michelle.
have not been completely immersed with all the songs, but yeah, carole king’s song sung by bamboo? astig!
cover album pala talaga ito. hmmm…
curious ako sa “umagang kay ganda”.
[after hearing "umagang kay ganda"]
i am still torn… sorry, i really have an aversion for back-up vocals done this way. What is the purpose for that? Is it supposed to be endearing?
konting kinig pa siguro. by then you will get to like it.
Have yet to listen to the album. So Far Away, one of my favorite songs of all time. I wonder how Bamboo did it? Nyeh. Umagang Kay Ganda, haha. Love that.
I liked it, I uploaded it in my facebook.
(shameless plug)
=P
didnt know they have a new album. akala ko single lang. heheh.
watched their concert here in Hollywood, kasama nila Parokya. But they never mentioned this album (or nabingi lang ako?).
They did sing Tatsulok and some i haven’t heard of.
Wish I could hear Alive. I’m a TEN addict. =)
off-topic: gwapo pala si ira!
thanks for the mp3s AJ! i love the songs.. =)
I ve heard the album and the songs are good. I was also surprised that it didnt contain any original composition. so what. The song selections are fine. My fav tracks are So far away and Umagang kay ganda.
i found out about their version of 50 ways and so far away through MTV sessions… i already knew about the original versions and when i heard bamboo singing it, it was like…
whoa…. =)
So far Away and Umagang kay Ganda are my faves as well.
Umagang Kay Ganda was not originally sung by Pops Fernandez. It was originally a duet between Ray-An Fuentes and Tillie Moreno. They won the Metropop in 79. Pops would have been only 13 years old in 79.
