The wonders of cartoons are often the imagery and the characters, but what gives life most to the animated character is the voice.

It is fascinating how a cartoon character’s voice captures the viewer. Peter Cullen voices Optimus Prime in the Transformers cartoon, and it’s great to hear that he is also doing the voice for the now-completed movie. The original voice actor for Megatron isn’t doing it now though… I’m bummed I found out who is doing so instead and totally lost the mystery now. He’s quite a famous actor.
Anyway, back to Peter Cullen. It’s difficult to dig for photos of voice actors since they often are camery shy. There are some who dislike having their photos taken at all (like that woman doing the voices of Bart Simpson’s aunts). So I didn’t find a decent photo of him. But well, you can always look for yourselves.
Other characters he has voiced for are: Cindarr in “The Visionaries” and would you believe it.. Eeyore in “Winnie the Pooh”! Now thaaaaat is talent! I didn’t know this before but he also narrated for the Voltron Lions cartoon.

By this time Ajay would already be in Sg. Welcome there! So while he’s getting settled there ans as we all are in the edge of our seats awaiting his next blog post, I’m doing another no-brainer piece.

Pen edits, one day later: Watching “In the Bedroom” (2001) which stars Marisa Tomei as supporting actress to Tom Wilkinson and Sissy Spacek. She was nominated in this category for an Oscar, same time as Helen Mirren (Gosford Park), Maggie Smith (Gosford Park) and Kate Winslet (Iris). The Oscar went to Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind).
=======================================
How’s this for a first female celeb feature? She may be in her early 40s now, but she is arguably still so young-looking. Being Italian-American adds to her appeal. I first saw Marisa Tomei on TV as Maggie in the spin-off of the Cosby Show with Lisa Bonet (Denise Huxtable, daughter of Cliff played by Bill Cosby) entitled “A Different World”. She had that spunky pretty face that I admired, much like how Winona Ryder is to most little girls in the 90s, if that analogy works for anyone at all? Sometime in the 90s I saw her with Robert Downey, Jr. in “Only You”. (I learned later on that they dated off screen.) She would make good in another romantic comedy I think. She has to do more! Then came the comedy “Oscar” where she starred as Sylvester Stallone’s daughter Lisa Provolone, a spoiled rich girl brought up in an Italian mob environment. Ok maybe this one wasn’t one of the best roles. But it was supposed to be an annoying character, and she did annoy me, so it worked!

Pahinga muna sa pag-impake at surf muna.
Hirap palang mag-pack for a long haul. I have to fit my favorite clothes in the baggage. Not to mention the necessary office suits/attires that I should be bringing.

I now know how much I love hot showers.
I went home stinking from the bush without the slightest effort of cleaning myself. For some stramge reason I decided I wouldn’t change clothes and just savor the filth as long as I could. No one seemed to care though, not in the train nor bus.
So why was I filthy you ask? Yep, the title of the post says it: I went abseiling. More commonly “rappelling” to Pinoys. Checks convinced me yesterday morning to tag along with him, Richard and Danny to go caving in Bungonia. So we drove up (or should I say down?) bright and early but had to detour to Nattai instead for a decent abseil spot. (more details in a later post, it’s quite complicated.)
By some grace of God, I am still alive. With a noble enough gash on an elbow and scratches in the knees and an arm.

That’s a photo of my pant leg, taken from my low-res camera phone on the train ride home to Sydney. By this time the muddy moss on my knees have dried, so they’ve faded in color. Earlier on it looked much nastier. And my shoes…

They’re banged up pretty well from the bushwalk and climbing. It rained while we were up, and with nowhere to take cover everything I had on got wet obviously. And, of course, the wet outdoors is never squeaky clean!
I didn’t bring a camera since Checks had one anyway. Soon as he has his pics up, I’ll be sure to grab them and put them up here.
So until then, I’ll leave the story at that. It doesn’t sound too exciting, but it was a marvelous Saturday.

On a different stroke right here, Ajay is flying to Singapore tomorrow. Well wishes to him and I pray he is safe always. Take care sweetie. *Happy thoughts* =)

Yeah I know, I haven’t blogged since iBlog3. Funny, that I stopped with an iBlog3 entry when I should have jumpstarted from then on.
I was overwhelmed with work and life issues. Now I am in the verge of working overseas. I wanted to wait until I get hold of my plane ticket before blogging about it. But jie clamored for a new entry.
So here is my official entry about my soon to be new job in a foreign country. Apart from preparing documents for my new job, I’m also taking care of my clearance in my current company. Backing up digital files prove to be one of the harder tasks. Organizing the files and burning them takes a lot of time. Work transition is going on smoothly. Unloading my bin in the office with all the garbage I’ve collected and taking them home is daunting. Believe me when I say I haven’t packed my clothes yet. I don’t even have a bag/luggage to begin with. And I have 3 left to finish that.
Unlike Pen when she left the country, we went a-frenzy in buying luggages/bags/clothes/shoes/etc. for her. I on the other hand am letting nature take its course (whatever course that is!). I thought of just dumping whatever clothes I can in my bag and live the Amazing Race kinda way. I haven’t finished God of War 2 in PS2 and it frustrates me that I will not be able to play it for a long time. Good thing that I have my new PSP and uber cool games that I am playing. Games played in the PSP will be a separate entry. ü
So on Sunday, I will be flying to another country. Leaving families & friends here in the Philippines. A new chapter in life unfolds starting on Monday. Wish me luck!

My first time to attend a formal blog conference. The 1st BlogCon at GreenBelt3 was a dinner/party, the BlogParteeh! was a party and the Blog Awards was an awards night. ü
I missed the first 2 iBlog events so I made it a point to go this time. The usual gang was there (do you guys really need link loves?). The ever talkative jester was the first one I saw. Juned, Poell and Ramsey showed next.
Chris opened up the whole conference with his blogging for newbies talk. He was of course with his wife Apples. Too bad they have to leave early though on the first day though. I met Celeste, a blogger from Baguio (who drove all the way to Manila with her husband and lovely daughter just to attend the conference). The quiet but deadly Shari was sitting on the far end of the room. Maybe because she’s had too much fame already.
I’ll leave the details with Jester’s entry and Apple’s 2-day reports – first day & second day. Janette Toral also compiled the blog entries for the events.
I guess the heart and soul of the blogging meetups like this is the socializing on the side. I get to finally introduce myself to Jonas and Marcelle. I saw in person Malou Mangahas, Alecks Pabico, Dean Alfar and Manuel L. Quezon III and other high-profile blogger.
It’s a given that Abe and his troop were also there. They just ooze with PR juices and everyone around them will just fall in awe.
On the second day, I wore my WordPress shirt. I proudly paraded around and true enough, people would stop me to ask where I got my shirt. What better day to wore the shirt but in an event like this. Thanks to Ant for sending me one. Let’s work out something so we could do a business of buying and selling WordPress shirts here in the Philippines.
All in all, the event was truly educational. I know the organizers put a lot of effort to stage this event. I personally thank each of them and hopefully we will have more (free) iBlogs to come.

Scientists have found evidence that prior to being a predominantly green planet, Earth was purple!
Somewhat loose discussion:
This has something to do with how membranes of organisms absorb and reflect wavelengths of light from the sun’s rays. We all learned about chlorophyll in photosynthesis in grade school. Scientists are proposing the idea now that at one time, the Earth was riddled with organisms that absorbed green light and then reflected red+violet = purple light. But there existed some purple-absorbers who could not compete with the abundance of green-absorbers. To survive, the evolved with an ability to absorb purple, and reflect green. They somehow maintained survival, and eventually emerged victorious in dominating the environment.
So how useful is this information, aside from being strikingly adorable to purple-color lovers?
Well, for one thing, on our search for life in other planets, it means not always searching for the same observable things we see on Earth at present, like the dominance of color (green).
[If you want to look up more information about these news snippets I write about, I'll start putting some keywords to look out for]
Keywords: retinal, halobacteria, archael bacteria
