Adorable Faces: Topher Grace
penny January 29th, 2007
So yeah, I was watching some 90s TV shows in YouTube, one of which was That 70s Show. So high time I brought good ‘ol Topher to the spotlight.
Topher Grace (b. 1978) will be starring alongside Tobey Maguire in the next Spiderman film installment. It’s amazing how these two look alike in some angles. Though now he looks a tiny bit like Brendan Fraser… don’t you think? The geeky frame he used to sport is shedding off too.
Topher was initially recognized as Eric Forman in That 70s Show in the early 90s. I would chance upon it on some weeknights in ABC5. Catchy novel show at that time. Prior to That 70s Show, the only experience under his belt were school plays and some theater.
I love Topher’s dry presence in comedy. He did a cameo in Ocean’s Eleven (and Twelve) as himself. Remember that scene where Pitt’s character is giving poker lessons to a group of young actors? Present there were Topher, Joshua Jackson, Holly Mary Combs and one other guy I don’t know (they were all playing themselves)… Then Clooney’s character comes and plays with them? Topher is too funny. It cracks me up seeing the fans after that scene go gaga over Topher like “Mr. Popularity”, while Brad Pitt walked out from the club unnoticed.
He appeared in the film In Good Company with Scarlett Johanssen and Dennis Quaid. Not a big hit, but a decent enough movie. He looked a bit more serious here, but his boyish appeal doesn’t shake off at all. I guess that was the point of his casting. He also had a tiny role as fiance to Julia Stiles’ character in Mona Lisa Smile.
Eric Forman is one of my favorite TV characters. ‘Twas part of that TV phase in parallel with F.R.I.E.N.D.S. He refused to continue for an 8th season (or was it 7th?) as he wanted to focus now on his film career. Ashton Kutcher followed suit.
di ba gay si topher?
i dunno. is he? never crossed my mind.
