Wizard Magazine
AJ Jorge January 17th, 2007
I’ve been reading comics since 2004 but it’s just a couple of months (November I think) that I discovered Wizard Magazine. It’s a complete fanboy guide for comics preview, snoops, interviews, reviews and everything related to comics.
Wizard is a magazine about comic books, published monthly in the United States by Wizard Entertainment. It includes a price guide to current and valuable comics, as well as comic book, movie, anime, and collector news, interviews, and previews. It is known for its “fanboy” sense of humour, which is shared by all the magazines published by Wizard Entertainment.
Good thing that an officemate buys the actual magazine (I only download my comics fix) and lets me read this glorious piece of magazine. I was all over it yesterday and picking out details for this 2007 year. The magazine is insanely stuffed with lots of things. DC and Marvels obviously eat up a lot of pages but the independent publishers also have their fair share. I can’t get enough of this issue and even downloaded my digital copy (a whopping 67mb download) so I can browse it after I return his copy. One thing’s for sure, comic fans will have a lot to look forward this year. And non-comic fans also benefits this issue. This year, a couple of big comicbook adaptations will be shown in the movies and TV shows related to comics are pumping in ratings.
First of them all is the much awaited Spider-Man 3 movie. Wizard’s latest issue has an interview with director Sam Raimi and his thoughts about the movie and a possible Spider-Man 4 movie.

Sam Raimi discusses the latest film and how he wants to direct or be involved in the next installment. As everybody knows by now, Spidey will don the black costume and the Hob Goblin and Sandman will be in this movie. Notice in the scanned page below, there’s a Transformers the Movie article which is another story altogether.

The meat of the latest Wizard issue for me is the interview with Nicolas Cage about his forthcoming GhostRider movie. Yes, I know Pen and Dax are probably going nuts and would want to read the article. There’s a bigger resolution link at the end of this entry.

Sorry to disappoint but it only spreads into 3 pages.
So where was I? Ah yeah, Ghost Rider. I’m not into the Ghost Rider books so I’m catching up with few issues that may lead into the movie. I’ve gotten some books/issues but haven’t got time to read them. I know the vague origins of Ghost Rider but I pass on the details. That is not to say that I will not be watching the movie. I’m going to watch this movie and all other comic book adapatations out there. Transformers, Fantastic Four (with Silver Surfer), Spider-Man3 and Ghost Rider.
It’s been a good start so far this year and we do hope that they continue to keep the high energy and to not disappoint the fans.
Here’s the bigger resolution for the above images:

Saw the trailer of Ghost Rider also. hay….. i think i’m inlove again. joke. hahaha.
i dunno what is it with Nic that i still like him and watch his movies maski na pangit ang movie. hehe.
i like him here in Ghost Rider. He’s trimmed down and he has hair. bwahahaha.
on FF: i think it’s a good trailer. parang maho-hook ka agad. I hope the whole movie is good.
I haven’t seen the trailer of Transformer yet.
Spiderman!! Excited na ko makita si Topher Grace. Heh.
Wizard! naalala ko nung elementary pa kme, we pooled our money para makabili ng isang issue, tapos we went straight to the price guide, tapos we’d try to guess the price ng Action Comics #1 (nakalagay lang kse “Call Us”) based on the prices ng Fantastic Four #1, Detective
Comics # 27…. tapos we’d imagine how cool if would be if nalaman namin na may pinamana pala saamin na AC #1 …. hehehe
Sadly, ang pinakamahal ko na comic ay non-mint condition na first appearance ni Gamgit that I bought for 30 bucks
