Bookworm

Since Pen is currently in Sydney, I have more time to read my pocketbooks. I actually bought a bunch of books from Booksale that are still to be read not to mention the backlog of books I have at home.

Surely You're Joking Mr. FeynmannSurely You’re Joking Mr. Feymann.
This is not a novel. This is a hilarious insight of the life of a great physicist and Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynmann. The book is full of anecdotes of the colorful life of Feynmann. The book aptly describes him as a “curious character”. He tried so many things in his life outside physics and even excelled in some of it. The book is all worth it. I have finished it some years back and read 3 or 4 anecdotes of him every night - pampatulog ko.

Rule of FourI’m still finishing Rule of Four. It is marketed as another DaVince Code like book. But I don’t know. I didn’t quite get the feel when reading the book. I even sent an SMS to Pen telling her that I must have read the climax already because I am already about 20 pages away from the last page but I can’t feel the excitement or rush of the characters. The codes and riddles are just mentioned throughout the book and not fully emphasized unlike Brown’s DVC and Angels & Demons. I won’t recommend this to those who enjoyed Brown’s book immensely (and have not read anything else) it is just a disappointment in terms of story pacing and revelations of mysteries. Otherwise, it is still a good read and you can learn something out of it.

Sum of All FearsThe Sum of All Fears.
I started reading this book about a month back but haven’t got time to pick it up again. I got into reading Rule of Four and it overshadowed this Clancy novel. I wanted to finish the book before watching the movie again. I remember watching the movie in VCD but didn’t quite understand the whole story. So instead of watching it again, I rather read the book first then watch the movie again. The book is thick, about twice or thrice the size of an ordinary book. It’s quite a challenge to read the book while lying down as it is relatively heavy. I am exerting an effort to hold the book while reading it. Maybe that’s the reason why I didn’t finish the book.

Zero GameZero Game.
This is the first Meltzer novel that I will be reading. The first Meltzer book I read was a comic book :D - Identity Crisis from DC Comics. The comic book was great. I enjoyed reading it and the story is surprisingly good too. So when I saw a Meltzer novel in Booksale, I know I have to read one and see if he is still good even though there will be no drawings and speech bubbles in it. It will be next in line as soon as I finish Rule of Four. I actually saw two Brad Meltzer novels in the store but I only picked one. I’ll buy the other one (if it is still there) if I find this book good.

The ClientThe Client.
One of the Grisham books I missed to read. I probably read most of his books aside from this one and the newer ones. When I saw this for sale in Booksale, I instinctively grabbed it knowing I want to finish all Grisham’s novel. I haven’t started it yet, probably after Zero Game. My sister Jaja is reading it now and Audz might read it after her.
