Be Careful What You Click For
AJ Jorge August 15th, 2006
I am no Adam Sandler fan.
His and good buddy Rob Schneider’s films almost always falls on the same type of comedy. Critics call it “Immature comedy” which I agree wholeheartedly. Most of their films are not worth seeing again. One viewing is more than enough. I did liked Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates though (which coincidentally both stars Drew Barrymore).
Watching Click last night with Pen was somewhat unconventional. We never watched romantic/comedy/drama films on the big screen. We save the trip to the theather for the big action packed movies with lots of eye candies or animated movies such as Cars, Ice Age, etc. We initially wanted to watch Miami Vice but was turned off by the too much negative response from the people around the internet. It was compared to Cellular, Collateral and Heat. I’m in no position to confirm this but since Pen and me didn’t liked Cellular and Collateral we do not like to waste money on that type of movie. Heat was also not that good, Al Pacino and Robert deNiro saved that film from total chaos.
So there, we agreed to watch Click instead. It has a relatively positive feedback versus Miami Vice. It was a typical Sandler movie and the scenes are admittedly funnier than his other movies. We missed the cameo of Schneider this time and after some searching I found out that he played Prince Habibu. ?
The movie falls into the may-watch-again-in-dvd category. It was good and the last few minutes of the movie is emotional not to mention heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. It depends how you see Sandler’s character throughout the movie. You will either pity him or get angry with him. It was brilliant. You may even shed a few tears like someone I know.
If you somewhat liked Blast from the Past or Truman Show, I think you will also enjoy this one. For me and Pen, as hard as it is to please us both, we enjoyed the movie.

di nyo namukhaan si prince Habibu?! hihihi anyhow, we also watched it nung weekend… kaiyak nga ung last part… made me miss my parents. tawa rin ng tawa si chard e. lalo na sa portion na inaaway nya ung kid next door.
Click hehe. Funny nga. The one-time kind of funny though. I said so to Ajay it was like a “Something-about-Mary” funny, though I don’t feel it now seeing that Stiller is a different kind of funny.
Christopher Walken brings the “Blast-from-the-Past” feel, though I’m also a bit tired of the kind of comedy he brings. He’s a genius I know, only I get tired easily with his voice and face hehe. My dad likes him though; he always cracks up whenever we pop that video on the machine.
Wah I didn’t recognize Schneider, I was way too distracted
So that’s why Abibu was so icky.
Henry Winkler appears beside Sandler again as the granddad. Last time they were both in Waterboy.
Funny film. I agree it’s one of those may-be-watched-again-at-home, but not the kind I can watch over and over… I’d rather see a Disney cartoon.
About Miami Vice, I wanted sana to see it because the people who said it was good were the kind who recommended artsy films that I kinda liked. But yeah I agreed not to watch it on the big screen because I got to thinking that I enjoyed “Heat” at home and not in the theater. But to be honest, I enjoyed Heat. Ajay’s right though, I would’ve not enjoyed it if Pacino wasn’t there.
I liked the movie! As in! Teary-eyed kami ng mga girlfriends ko paglabas. Sila pala teary-eyed. Ako, magang maga talaga mata. Feel na feel ko. Damang dama. hehe. You’re right. Heartbreaking.
I think Click addresses more morale concerns than Sandler’s previous films….i’ve seen it once and would love to see it again and again….i’m the type that can watch the same movies repeatedly and still laugh at the antics and jokes….
