Superman!
One word: it-blew-my-mind.
Okay, okay, “EXCELLENT“.
(Don’t worry, this is a spoiler free entry)
Everything is just great. From the starting credits to the last line uttered by the characters to the musical score while the credits are rolling upwards.
Everything is just in place. The story is original. Not even the comics continuity touched the story. It opened a lot of future possibilites for the Superman mythos. I kinda liked it but not wholeheartedly though.
The whole movie paid homages to various Superman classic shots. I especially liked the recreation of Action Comics #1 cover:

It tickled me pink when I was foreseeing what would happen and there it was, Bryan Singer gave the Superman fanboys a live recreation of the classic cover:

This is just one of the few things that only Superman die hard fans will notice and the casual movie goer will just shrug off as another visual treat. Being immersed into comics for the last few years and have faithfully watched Smallville, I’m fortunate enough to catch the in jokes and the tie-ins of the movie from the comic continuity of Superman. Pen caught one reference which she excitedly told me - Gotham City was mentioned in the film. This easily established the fact that Metropolis and Gotham both existed in the movie and a possible cross-over in the future has been paved way.
CG was awesome and it is seamless you could easily say that everything was real. Singer did a really great job in this film and I’m really thankful that he directed this one and not Brett Ratner (the original choice who also directed the so-so X-Men 3). Watch out for the airplane scene. That whole action sequence was great!
Give yourself a time to watch this film. You will not regret it.
this wednesday pa ko. i’m sure magugusthan ko din talaga to. can’t wait!
astig pare!! napanood ko na! i’m not a diehard superman fan but this movie kicks a$$! i hope they put in more action scenes though, pero visual treat pa din all the way!
gusto ko pa ulitin! sana sa iMax naman. di ko lang alam kung sulit yung 20minutes of 3D rendition.
hindi sulit
