You are my Refuge
penny November 8th, 2005
I have found a place/I can call my own/Here in Your embrace/Where Your mercy overflows/It’s here that all my doubts and fears just melt away/I lay my burdens down and I look upon Your face
A heart that yearns to love and adore, a love that aches to give and offer, is trusting and full of surrender.
You are my refuge/You are my sanctuary/When I feel afraid/You’re my hiding place/You are my refuge/And when the storm is raging/Underneath Your wings/I rejoice and sing/You are my refuge
When you truly love, it is often necessary to reaffirm it, and have a song in your heart to speak of this love. Say it again…
I have found a place/I can call my own/Here in Your embrace/Where Your mercy overflows/It’s here that all my doubts and fears just melt away/I lay my burdens down and I look upon Your face
We are but inklings in the vastness of time and space. There is only one eternity. We are but specks of it. We are humbled by this majesty.
He who dwells/in the secret place/of the most High God/shall abide/underneath the shadow/the shadow of Your wings
It’s nice how, when you know a song for the longest time, such words can flow like melted butter and honey on the lips.
You are my refuge/You are my sanctuary/When I feel afraid/Lord, You’re my hiding place/You are my refuge/And when the storm is raging/Oh, Underneath Your wings/I rejoice and sing/You are my refuge (You are my refuge…Under the shadow of your embrace… Under your shadow I find my strength, you are my refuge, the one who lifts my heart.. You are my strength Lord… I will run to you…)
It’s been a good 15-20 years since I last listened to Psalty, the singing songbook and the episodes of Colby, the robot. One of our street neighbors has 2 very energetic kids who sing at high volumes and I am reminded of how I used to flood parents’ eardrums with kids’ praise songs. I took out the Maranatha! audio tapes/cds some weeks ago and have been playing them on the background.
Psalty: Singalongathon… Maranatha Marathon… Hallelujah Jubilee! Stay tuned! Don’t touch that dial…
As a child, I learned a lot of songs of praise and worship that I cannot shake off my head no matter how I try. They are literally songs sung from the heart; and a singing which seems to be an involuntary process that runs in the background. I think it is a really nice thing to have a song in your heart for the Lord. It’s like having a prayer offering at every possible “idle” moment.
Christmas is blowing near. Let’s rediscover our christian roots. Profess not only thy faith, but also thy love.

[...] This is the first time I heard Majesty in slow rock, performed here by Caedmon’s Call. (Thanks Jie for the link, I finally downloaded the songs after a year!) [...]
guys, cno may kanta ng “you are my refuge”?
Maranatha Singers.
ibang “my refuge” ung sa maranatha singers eh. tried downloading it pero ung hinahanap ko ung naka post sa taas where the lyrics goes “you are my refuge, you are my sanctuary, when i am afraid….”
I distinctly remember having a 2-disc compilation of Maranatha with this song. I might be mistaken… Actually I think I am now.
I found this sample:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/worshipmusic/mm-itddp-09.wma
And the album is by The Praise Band. Thanks for pointing that out Joseph.
I love this song.
This is confusing me… indeed. See, this is the album I have: http://www.songquery.com/html/title/other/30_years_of_hope_maranatha_music_30_classic_songs.html
So definitely I was right at least to have said that that Maranatha! had a version of this song. And the link I posted in the previous comment shows a commentary about The Praise Band 10 album being a Maranatha album, so that tells me that this is indeed the Maranatha Praise Band.
Cheers!
